So I am in my early 40's and my health is important to me more than ever before. The reality that I am getting older and running out of time has hit me. Call it a mid life crisis but I know things need to change if I am going to age gracefully. I have seen videos recently of women in their 70's in the strength training world. They are lifting weights even a healthy twenty something man might have trouble with. It's incredible. I found myself watching the video in repeat amazed at the strength these women had and for the two women I saw they started doing this because their spouse died and realized the importance of being fit and healthy and in their golden years took on this challenge to push their bodies like never before. So I thought to myself..."What am I waiting for?" I am not magically going to get fit eating jalapeno popcorn in front of the TV watching Netflix. I am not going to get fit pinning a punch of stuff on Pinterest on how to get fit. So I have decided this year is my year for change. I did a vision board back in December. You are suppose to look through magazines and rip out pictures that speak to you and then arrange them on a white presentation board.
Once we put it together and had everything glued we had to display it for the other people attaining the workshop to comment on it and tell me what it seems to be about. Their comment had to start with something like this. " It appears to me ..." Honestly they hit the nail on head when they started to speak and tears overcame me. Doing the vision board felt like a release for me. My board is about me owning my time and this year was going to be my year to shine. It is about being happy in my skin and free and happy like the women in the pictures. It is about eating healthy, building my strength, practicing yoga and meditation. My board is about me transforming who I am into who I want to be by the end of the year. I own my world and I have the power to make change and it's in my hands. The diamond ring represents me by the end of the year being open to receive love from someone else and having to the ability to love them back because I spent all year loving myself and accepting myself. Do I want to get married one day? Maybe? Do I want to find love again? For sure! Lastly I have a pin that reads 'Silver'. That is a rank in doTERRA. For a year and half I have been stuck at Elite rank and even with that only hit it once. I really want to be successful in doTERRA but I know what has been holding me back is...me! My mindset. I struggle finding other leaders to attract. I won't ever attract other leaders to what I am doing if I am not true to myself and get real about doing this business by first working on me. I know once I put 100% into living the lifestyle I talk about, then and only then will I truly attract the right people into my business.
So that is where yoga comes in. I made a list of NON NEGOTIABLES that I plan on following daily in my life. My plan is to get up one hour earlier than I need to in order to have 'ME' time and fulfill my goals. So here are my non negotiables.
1. Practice gratitude everyday: I have a jar that I labelled 'The Thankful Jar' I write what I am grateful or thankful for everyday and at the end of the year I read it and thank God for the life I have.
2. Meditate for at least 10mins everyday. I have an app on my phone that has different guided meditations you can do depending on what you need to focus on. Simple Habit
3. Move 30 minutes everyday: Whether walking, yoga or strength training.
4. Drink water daily: Did you know you need to drink half your body weight in ounces to truly give your body the amount of water it needs a day to thrive?
5. Take my oils and doTERRA supplements daily: So there are a bunch of oils that are so beneficial to take internally daily but to put each of them in a veggie cap daily is so time consuming. So I combined them all in one bottle that has a dropper top attached and fill veggie cap once every morning. Super easy and quick!
6. Personal Development: Whether reading, listening to podcast or book. Taking a course on line. Watching a webinar. Something that will help develop my mind and enrich my soul.
Ok so back to yoga. I always knew yoga was a great way to help your mind and body. I have always admired the yoga people who could flex this way and flex that way and they seemed so relaxed and content. I always wanted to be one of those people. Here's the thing. When you are plus size like me going to a yoga class is not an option. I would be so self conscious about what I looked like I know I would not enjoy the experience so I never went or even tried. At least until NOW! I met a lady who is a yoga instructor. Sweetest lady. I asked her if she did private lessons and she did. We were to meet up a few months ago but truthfully I chickened out. I made up an excuse why I couldn't go. I regretted it ever since and felt pretty shitty about cancelling on her. With my new focus for 2019 I messaged her and asked her if she would be willing to instruct me if she was still interested. I was thrilled when she said yes. So just I just met her yesterday. Our session was 90 minutes and it is incredible how fast time went. I was more flexible than I thought I was and she made comments that I looked 'strong' based on my ability to keep the poses and balance. I felt pretty proud of myself. I was never one to do sports but even being overweight most of my life I was strong and loved to cycle so built strong leg muscles. Plus working since I was able to I did a lot of moving and lifting throughout my work life.
Walking into the yoga studio was breath taking. The room was huge. Old wood floors sanded down and varnished. Meditation pillows, yoga gear, candles going, and even a little buddha alter. Plants throughout and the scent of burning incense . There was even a water feature with water cascading down making you feel like you were outside. A perfect way to invite someone to experience yoga for the first time. I fell in love with the room and by the end of my ninety minutes fell in love with not only the how the moves of yoga made me feel but the experience of yoga. I had a sense of piece that came over me that is hard to explain. I didn't even want to leave the room. I was so in the zone and yoga state of mind I left and completely even forgot to pay the lady. Neither of us even thought about it. She was focused on making my first experience an amazing one which she did and I was in yoga heaven. I messaged her when I realized I forgot to pay her and apologized and asked for her information so I could e-transfer her the funds.
Later that night I decided I would re-arrange my office the next day to make room for my yoga mat and have my own private place to do yoga. I love my office and it's my favorite place in the house. I ended up going on amazon that evening and ordering a yoga bolster, strap and one of those Mexican yoga blankets. Needless to say I couldn't sleep that night. First thing the next day I re-arranged the office and cleared room for my yoga area.
I am so glad I went to this class. Yoga is for everyone. You don't have to be already fit to do it. Yoga is for anyone who wants to increase their mobility, relax the mind and connect with the body. Yoga is not a religion but focuses on physical, mental and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India.
What I do know is I love how yoga made me feel and I will continue to do yoga everyday of my life.
Stop Comparing, You Are Enough
I'm Guilty! Are you?
I think in everyone's life we are guilty of comparing our own lives to others. Especially in the world of social media we are constantly flooded with images of people's 'perfect' lives. I mean 'perfect' in a sarcastic tone of course. The images you see on Facebook or Instagram are a single moment that could be real or fake. How many pictures have we had to take to over the years whether at a family gathering or anywhere else after a heated argument or after our children just struck our last nerve. I think we all remember at least one photo that was 100% faked and we weren't really as happy as we may of seemed. If I have done it, so have you, and so have so many others who post happy go lucky pictures on their pages.
Here's the thing. Comparing yourself to others is self destructive! Why make yourself feel awful because you aren't a certain weight, or don't have the car, house, spouse like someone else. Or maybe you do doTERRA like me and you compare yourself to someone who started the business after you and moved up ranks before you! Let me tell you I am guilty of that. I let it bother me so much that I questioned the value I bring to what I do. We are perfect and neither is everyone else. We each bring something different to this world and there will never be another 'me', just like there will never be another 'you'.
So I say 'fuck it!' Screw all the comparing and learn to fall in love with you and accept what you have and let things happen the way they are meant to happen. We each have a different purpose to lead. Whether you know yours just know you have one. Just be you!
Here are a few ways you can begin loving and accepting yourself and your life!
1. Practice gratitude daily
I have a jar on my desk. I write what I am thankful/grateful for each day. Fold the paper and place in the jar and re-read it on New Year's Eve to reflect back on my year
2. Self Development
If you are not growing as a person, you are not living. You must work on self development daily. Whether you read or listen to a book. Listen to podcasts. Do something to improve you and make you feel better about you! There are so many free podcasts you can do and also so many free webinars you can sign up for. There are endless websites you can visit. Self development will be a huge step in feeling fulfilled and every time you finish a book or whatever form of training you will boosts your confidence and self acceptance.
3. Be Still
There is something to be said about meditating. Trust me I wasn't sure about it at first either. I thought to myself I don't even know how to do this. The best mediation I have found works for me is guided meditations. There are free apps out there you can download on your phone, computer or tablet. Basically a guided meditation you can pick your theme and it helps guide your thoughts. You don't have to meditate long. You can do it for five minutes or three hours. The choice is yours!
4. Control Your Self Talk
The person you talk to the most in a day is YOU!. Our brains are constantly chattering to us and we are constantly thinking. Be mindful of your thoughts. For example let's say you are getting dressed in the morning and you put on your favorite shirt but then you catch a glimpse of yourself sideways in a store window your first thought could be 'Damn my ass looks big in this shirt!'. meanwhile in the morning that same shirt looked great on you. Your self talk can be your biggest self confidence destroyer. We tend to be harder on ourselves more than anyone else is on us. We are out biggest critic.
So try to consciously correct yourself when negative talk happens and turn your thoughts from negative to positive thoughts about yourself.
5. Give Back Without Expecting Anything Back
There is always someone who has less than you do right now. GIVE BACK! Clean out your closest, volunteer somewhere. Helping others will help you realize you truly do have enough. Offer your time to help someone, anyone. Giving back will not only make you feel good but it helps you know you matter and you helping others matter. Heck...if you love baking maybe post videos of you baking your favorite recipes and share that with others. If you love reading maybe volunteer at a library or old folks home to read to either kids or seniors. There is so much you can do to give back. You just need to do it.
So the best thing you can do is to be YOU. Stop comparing yourself to other people because you truly don't know the struggles they face or how good or bad their lives truly are. We can all display the life we want others to see. All happy and living the best life but just know the pictures you see are sometimes staged and other times genuine. But one thing is for you those pictures are not your life and only you can determine your now, and future.
Accept who you, change what you don't like about yourself, and know through it all only you can be you so love yourself no matter what!
So recently at my work their were rumors going around that the reason I was happier and smiling more was because I had a new boyfriend. So an employee, who I have to credit her braveness in asking me straight out right did tell me people have noticed a change in me and I seemed happier and they thought it was because I was with a man. I laughed it off and told her my change and happiness does not have to do with a man.
No offence to anyone but people thinking my happiness had to do with the fact they thought I found a man actually disappointed me. For how far we have come as woman and fighting for and continuing to fight for equal rights the question she asked me brought me back to what the 1950's must of felt like for woman back then. A woman's worth is about the man, husband she finds and the clean beautiful home she keeps and the well behaved children she has. The part of me that is a feminist was offended and the entrepreneur in me was glad my employees noticed a change in me.
See it isn't a man who was responsible for me being happier. The person responsible for my happiness was ME!
I made a decision two years ago to join doTERRA and do it as a business. My goal has always been to rank advance and continue to move up the ranks until I made enough to do doTERRA full time. Throughout growing my business I knew self development was important but didn't really get into self development full steam until I found myself stuck at the Elite rank for a year. So the last four months I have been reading books, watching free webinars, gone to Tony Robbins event, attended doTERRA convention, invested in and joined Eric Worre coaching program for a year. I have been and continue to do all these things to grow myself and become a better person and leader. I have come to understand in order for me to succeed in doTERRA a MLM company it starts within me and personal development is key to grow your business. Anyone who says they don't need personal development is lying to themselves. Even though I was initially annoyed that people thought all it took to change me and have me be happier was a man in my life it also made me realize the growth I know I have made now others are seeing it too. It's like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. Even though the butterfly knows what it is doing and transforming into others don't see it until the butterfly emerges.
Anyways ladies or men. You don't need a significant other to make you happy. Happiness comes from within you and the choices you make and the personal growth you invest in yourself.
It seems these days when trying to find the perfect gift for someone it is becoming harder and harder to find that perfect gift. Everyone tends to buy everything they want, when they want it. I personally like to add a personal touch to my gifts by creating my own DIY gifts for friends and family. Not only are these gifts personally made by me but it allows me to put that personal touch to a gift that you can't quite get from buying something in a store. I want to share with you a few easy gift giving ideas whether for Christmas or Birthdays or just because gifts.
Bath bombs are great because you can make them any colours you want and use a variety of essential oils to help create a mood. Some of my favorite scents to put in bath bombs are Lavender, Citrus Bliss and Wild Orange. To shape my bath bombs I bought some empty clear plastic ornaments that come apart. You can get them either off of Amazon or your local store especially around Christmas time. Or you can buy the metal moulds for bath bombs. The reason I got the clear ornaments that fit together is I always had struggled with my bath bombs staying together when I took it out of the mould. The empty ornaments allowed me to have them set longer before removing them. Actually today using the exact recipe above I only had them set them for 10 seconds and they stayed the beautiful round shape no problem. I was quite pleased with my myself. If you understood my past struggles you would be pleased with me too.
Talk about super easy to make! Honey is great for your face. It gives suppleness, firmness, reduces dry patches and pimples. Honey mixed with Frankincense can help you have an amazing complexion. Frankincense has been know to help reduce appearances of wrinkles, aging spots and helps discoloured skin tones. Honey is full of anti-oxidants.
Beeswax candles are non toxic so you don't have to worry about burning theses candles in your home. They have very low smoke release so burn clean. 100% natural product. To melt beeswax easily just fill a pot with some water then place a metal bowl on top of your pot. This will create a double broiler. Place you beeswax pellets in metal bowl and allow to melt without burning the wax. Add your essential oils then place in a container of your choice. Be sure to centre your wick. I like to use a little bit of hot glue to hot glue my wick to the bottom of the container. Let cool then trip your wick and you have yourself your own 100% natural candle in the scent you want.
Help keep feet looking and feeling great this winter. We often forget about our feet if we aren't out in the sun and sand and what better way to nurture your feet than making this super easy peppermint sugar scrub. Smells amazing and anyone would love to receive this gift.
Milk is better for your skin than in your belly. Milk contains fats and proteins that help your skin absorb moisture and feel softer. Using powdered milk is an easy way to gift the benefits of milk baths to a friend or family member.
So whether it is for a Birthday or for this Holiday season you can easily make your own Do It Yourself gifts and add that personal touch to your gift giving ideas.
Essential Oils For Beauty
Beauty is a big concern for many people and the great thing is there are a lot of great products that are available that are safe and natural to use. My 'GO TO' choice is using doTERRA essential oils and their amazing products they have. You can learn more by reviewing the information pages on each of these products by going to doTERRA.
I love that I can use essential oils that are natural and safe. With many beauty products out on the market right now I have found most are filled with many chemicals and tested on animals for safety. When companies need to test on animals then that should raise red flags right away. What are they using that they need to TEST that it will be safe enough for us to use. NO THANK YOU!!
So we focus on safety when using essential oils because everyone has a different level of sensitivity than the next person. I myself can use citrus oils no problem and my skin does not react at all. There are others that have more sensitive skin and they find if they don't dilute then their skin may get red or bumpy. Everyone is different but above is some guidelines to follow. One rule everyone needs to follow is don't place oils in your eyes, ears, or damaged skin.
Whether you are in your teen years, twenties or forties for that matter skin imperfections can be present. Some amazing oils that can help with skin imperfections are listed in above photo. You can visit doTERRA to check out each of the oils listed to learn more.
As I get older aging is a concern. I see those fine lines starting at the edges of my eyes and mouth. More and more I am adopting the same lines I remember in mother's face looking up to her as a child. As much as I love my mother I also enjoy looking young and love the fact I can use my essential oils to help fight the signs of aging skin.
Who doesn't want to have smooth, young looking skin?
Who doesn't want to have amazing smooth looking skin?
Four amazing products from doTERRA. I am in love with this line of skin care. The cleanser works amazing to get make up and dirt off. I even use it to clean my makeup brushes!! It works better than anything else I have ever tried. The moisturizer is my favorite in the warmer months because so light and fresh smelling and doesn't leave my skin feeling heavy. These products will help your skin look and feel so much healthier and give you glowing looking skin.
Who has a pre-teen or teenager at home? This is my son's 'go to' routine to manage his skin imperfections. He uses it every morning and every night to help keep his skin pimple free and manage and reduce the number of new pimples that may form. Does all that without any harsh chemicals that you often find in acne creams and washes.
doTERRA has a whole line of spa products that you can use all over your body. Whether you want to use their Body Butter, Hand and Body lotion or Body Wash they have products for you. The great thing is these products are great to give as gifts as well and you can feel good about gifting natural, safe products free of harsh chemicals and synthetics.
So I attended doTERRA Global Convention this past week. I bought my ticket when they became available in 2017 after the 'YOU' convention. Originally my sister and one of my builders were to come with me but for each of their own reasons decided to back out. When they both announced to me they weren't going to go they did it in the same week. I'll be honest I wasn't sure what to do because I didn't really know anyone else who was going. After thinking about it I decided I was going since I heard it can fast forward your doTERRA business. I then got to know my upline and asked her about her monthly leader meetings she had her place. I started going to them to get to know her and others on her team. I'm glad I did because that helped me know friendly familiar faces at convention.
I didn't know what to expect from convention. I went there with an open mind. It was the first time I also was travelling solo. I didn't know what to expect with that either but all went really well. I thought I would be scared but airports are pretty easy to navigate. Hey if people who don't speak English can do it I can figure it out.
I couldn't believe the number of people at convention. In total there were 40,000 of us there. There were people everywhere. I got myself to the Salt Palace to line up to register and I think all 39,999 other advocates were there lined up with me. It took a long time to get through but people were so nice in line. I even helped one lady play a trivia game on her phone. Of course I had the answer to the question that was about Canada.
Throughout the whole event you saw doTERRA back packs everywhere even when no where near downtown. What amazed me was the number of people on their public transportation system that asked what was happening and what was doTERRA. The HOME of doTERRA and still there were numerous Salt Lake City residents who didn't know the number one essential oil in world was in their back yard. I was amazed.
There were so many great speakers to really were inspirational to listen to. Tim Ballard from OUR. New York best selling author of Left to tell Immaculee IlIbagiza and Hugh Jackman who performed three songs and they interviewed.
The biggest message I got from convention was your dreams can come true but it is up to you to believe and manifest them into reality. If you want to be successful in your doTERRA business you must take action and do the WORK! Also you must give back. The more you give of yourself the more you will get back.
I do doTERRA because I feel like it found me. The time before I started with doTERRA I was in a really dark time in my life and questioning my purpose and why I was put on this earth. I was having issues at work and even thought I may lose my job. I am a mother to my son but at the time I felt even that I was awful at and questioned my abilities to be a good mom. I felt like everything in my life was well, shitty. My anxiety and depression got the best of me. When I started using the oils and found out you can do a it as a business I felt like I found what I was looking for. My calling. I read everything I could about oils and so started my journey with doTERRA.
That's why I went to convention. I feel like doTERRA saved me from doing self harm because I was so unhappy and with these little bottles of oils I found hope and joy.
I'm glad I got to go to convention. I met a lot of great people and even got my picture taken with Emily Wright one of the founders. I learned a lot and listened to some amazing people. I am proud of myself for going to convention even though it meant going solo. They say you go when you get out of your comfort zone and I sure got out of mine!!
It's That Time Of Year Again
So as a parent back to school is a great time of year especially when you have an eleven year old! I remember when he had just started Junior Kindergarten and dropping him off for his first day and as soon as I got in the car the tears started rolling down my face because my little baby was now going to school like a big boy. Fast forward about seven years and I can't wait to ship him off to school. School supplies we bought in early summer, all back to school clothes washed and ready to be worn. Don't get me wrong I love my son but I also love the silence that comes when he is at school and not yelling at the TV while he is playing his favorite PS4 game. With school just around the corner here in Canada I also have set up the back to school necessities for any oil user. Here are some of my favorite essential oil diffuser blends and also other products I like to use to help my son do his best in school.

A Few Back To School Tips
Why doTERRA should be your Essential Oil Company of choice!
When I got introduced to essential oils it was when my sister invited me to one of her classes. I really didn't know a lot about essential oils. I have bought lavender in the grocery store once and decided I didn't like the smell. So when I went to her class I mainly went because she was my sister. What she taught at that class intrigued me. What caught my attention the most was the stories she told me not only how the oils worked for people she knew but the stories she told me about how doTERRA helps the communities they source from. When I left her class I did some of my own research and it took me about a month to really decided if doTERRA was the company I wanted to be with. I heard about other essential oil companies that had been around a lot longer than doTERRA so I wanted to be sure.
Wow. What I have come to learn about this company impresses me more and more every day.
So doTERRA is not just about producing the world's best essential oils they are also about helping and working with the growers and distillers of these natural products. doTERRA works with growers and owners of the land to work along side them and create and produce the highest quality of essential oils. It's about a partnership. Almost half of the countries doTERRA sources from are from third world countries and doTERRA provides stable, fair paid work for these communities.

Bath Salt Ornaments
Bath salt ornaments can make the perfect gift for the holidays. It can be a great teacher gift, gift for a friend or family member. Each ornament can be different colours and different scents. The options are endless and completely up to you and your imagination. The ones I made above are ones I made as Christmas gifts this year for my son's teacher and stocking stuffer for family. I call them CANDY CANE ORNAMENTS. Here's how you make them.
First thing first you need is to get yourself some empty clear ornaments. I got mine at a local craft store Michael's.
Next in two separate bowls add equal parts Epsom salts and baking soda. I did 1 cup Epsom salt and one cup baking soda in each bowl. Then in one of the bowls add your food colour of choice. I was aiming for red but got more of a deep pink instead. Still looks great! These ornaments are candy cane smelling so I added doTERRA peppermint essential oil.
Using a muffin pan to keep your ornaments steady fill each ornament with about a tablespoon of first colour. In this case I decided to start with white. Just use a funnel to avoid making too much of a mess.
Next you can add about a tablespoon of your next colour. Then repeat the process with white once you are done filling ornaments with colour mixture.
Next put your tops back on and your done! Super easy and super cute!!. I ended up putting 3-4 of these in a gift bag with a little note with instructions on it for my son's teacher.
You can add about half an ornament to your bath water or more if you prefer and ENJOY!
Christmas time can be very expensive depending on how many people you want to buy for. Making DIY gifts from the heart can be so much better. The aroma benefits just from making them is worth the try alone. This is a great DIY to do with your kids too.
When reaching for your goals you may have,
a bad day,
a bad week or even
a bad month.
As long as you don't give up
you'll get there.
The saying above is from a post I put on my Instagram account for Healthy For Life recently. It is something I came up with to remind myself to stay on track with my goals. A lot of times what happens is, when we fall off track from reaching our goals, in the time we planned, a lot of people give up. The goals could be anything. For me, my goals are to be fit and healthy and drive my business.
As of today I have been a wellness advocate for a year. In that time I have spent a lot of time developing myself in many ways. I continue to learn daily even now different ways to use essential oils, how they work in the body and how they help me and those around me improve our overall health. I try to attend many different events.
I recently went to two different essential oil events. The one held by my up line was the most impactful. There were many different speakers all talking about the business. By the end of the day I can honestly say I was a mess inside, so full of emotion. I even tried to thank my highest up line for running the event and when I went to speak I started to cry and could barely get my words out. Needless to say I felt like an idiot after because couldn't contain my emotions and Lord knows what she was thinking.
The reason I was so full emotion on this training day is because it was exactly what I needed. Anyone who is building a business reading this will be able to relate. Building a business is definitely a journey. In the beginning you are super energized, super excited about the potential this business has to offer. You tell everyone you know and sign up a bunch of people. You are thrilled by the bonus cheques you receive, the bonus points you get and you think "Wow I can do this!" After some time you have less and less people it seems to reach out to. You still invite people to classes but then instead of having 8-10 people, it becomes like 2-4 people till you start hosting and have no one shows up. Wow, you want to talk about heart break ask any Wellness Advocate about their first no show class.
The first speaker of the day spoke to us about our 'why'. But not why we started as a wellness advocate but why we weren't where we wanted to be and what was stopping us. She had us close our eyes, put one hand over our heart and visualize the flame inside we had for our business. I pictured mine flickering. In the last few months my flame inside had been flickering because I began to questioned whether doing the business was worth it and if I have what it takes to get to Presidential Diamond that I once envisioned. In the exercise we learned what is stopping all of us is we forgot our 'WHY'. As we did this exercise I had tears falling down my face because I then remembered ALL my whys of why I started doing this business in the first place. My 'why' was because I wanted to improve my health so to help avoid scary news that a lump in my breast might be cancerous. My 'why' was because at the time I started this business my 40hr a week full time job was killing me on the inside and I was coming home angry and upset and taking it out on my son. I wanted the financial freedom they talked about that could happen with this company. I wanted to be able to be with my son and not be all stressed out. I wanted to be able to go on school field trips with him and be there when he got home from school. I wanted financial freedom so not to worry about providing for my son and I as a single mother. I say wanted but it is in fact 'I WANT' all those things.
I think the reason I was so emotional by the end of this day is I truly knew for sure this is what I want and I will need to put in the extra hard work to get it. Currently as of this post I have reached Elite but solidified today that to get to Diamond it means a lot more sweat and tears to get there, but even though it will be hard, it will be so worth it!
I look forward to the day I reach my goal of Diamond so I can read this post again and see how far I came in my business. I look forward to that day.
There are so many people that have inspired me today and so many more people out there I look up to that preach to be your best self.
If you are considering becoming a wellness advocate just know your 'why' and know that you will work harder for this than probably anything else in your life especially if you are looking to become Presidential Diamond. There's a reason only 2% reach this level.
I want to be the 2%!!
The secret killer
It is amazing how many things people use these days without even thinking about it. Just because it is on a shelf in a store does not mean it is good for you. Health Canada may approve these products to be ok for consumption but only at the regulated doses and even then that is questionable. The one I want to talk about today is Fluoride. Fluoride is a compound of fluorine. According to Merriam Webster dictionary
Fluorine: a nonmetallic halogen element that is isolated as a pale yellowish flammable irritating toxic diatomic gas
Fluoride has been described as more toxic than lead and almost as toxic as arsenic.
Wondering why it is in so many things we use today? Here are some facts.
So here are some facts.
There is hope!
The good thing is you can avoid your exposure to fluoride by doing some simple things.
I have eliminated fluoride in my home and the more everyone does and it is seen for what it is 'toxic waste' the less of a demand there is for it then it will cease to exist.
What is mental health?
Just based off the definition I'm pretty sure each and every one of us has suffered from mental health issues. I myself have suffered from depression and anxiety for years and just within the last year I have really found ways on how to cope with it. The thing is, people don't really understand the impact they can have on others who suffer from mental health issues. Here's my most recent story. I have done a lot of self development and self growth over the last one, almost two years now. I honestly can say I am not the person I was a year ago. Am I perfect? Hell no! I work on me each and every day and rather than be self consumed on my issues and my feelings I have really seen the joy and benefit of making others feel good and helping them. So most recently I had a bit of a set back in my progression. Someone who has known me for a very long time is pretty much set in their ways of how they see me and I really think no matter how much I change and grow they will never see that growth or change in me. The problem is when people see you one way and expect certain behaviours from you and everything you do or say can be twisted and perceived not how you had intended. So this person who thinks they know me perceived what I had said as malicious but meanwhile I was just stating a fact and trying to explain why I wasn't in control of this one particular thing we were talking about to change it. So after a few days of letting this situation bother me I now know that this person will see me the way they do because for years people couldn't relate to me because I was very quiet, which made me seem snobbish , I did things a certain way and expected them done that way because otherwise my anxiety, stress and OCD would go into overdrive. I came across cold or a bitch because I was trying to protect myself from years of getting hurt and abuse I incurred from others.
I was who I was and can't change the past but I have been able to change my present. To me now BITCH means beautiful, intelligent, thoughtful, caring, human. I truly believe in self care, meditation, eating right, and being active which I believe all help me be better mentally. I also found essential oils! Essential oils have truly helped ground me and my emotions and I have the tools now to face my anxiety and stress. When I use my oils I physically can feel the positive difference they have on me. Some of my favorites are Wild Orange. Very uplifting oil and I am instantly happier when I inhale the scent of orange. I use Balance, Vetiver and Frankincense on my feet daily. It helps ease my anxiety, and stress and the anger that can come from feeling both of those things. My Peace roller ball is one that travels with me when I'm on the go to help with anxiety and stress. Living with mental health issues can put a toll on your body so finding ways to cope is so important. Here are some great ways to help cope with mental health that anyone can do.
1. Think positive. No matter the situation you are in think about one good thing that can or had resulted from it
2. Exercise/Move daily. It has been medically proven exercise helps release the 'happy' juice in your brain making you feel better
3. Start meditating. Focus on your present state and breathing and take deep breaths. Deep breathing has been shown to help relax the body.
4. Do something every day to help others. Doing for others helps not only them but you too. It makes you feel good to give back
5. Express gratitude. Think about daily at least one thing/person you are grateful for and why.
6. Live in the present. Thinking about the past can induce feelings of depression especially if you had a rough past and worrying about the future can increase feelings of anxiety for those who suffer from that. So focus on the present and why it is so awesome!
7. Surround yourself with people who make you happy. They say the five closest people you hang out with is who you become. Choose wisely.
8. Continue learning. Keep working on you and self development. Whether you want to be a better leader, a happier person, whatever it is keep learning.
9. Don't give up. Life isn't a sprint but a marathon and we all have a long way to go and there is no cheating to getting better.
10. Set goals for yourself and pursue your dreams. Anyone who have achieved a goal in their life first started off with a dream that they set into action. Make plans and go for it!!
There are many people I have discovered that have inspired me to be the best version of me that I can be. Find someone who inspires you and be the best version of YOU that you can be!
